I provide strategic support for scientists who want more-and deserve it.

I want to help you negotiate for the resources you need to thrive, either within your institution, or outside of it as you explore new career opportunities. I think of negotiation as a skill like any other, and academic scientists are great at learning new things.

I help scientists think critically about their goals and walk with them hand-in-hand to develop a negotiation strategy to match. This means:

  • knowing their worth – and articulating it clearly

  • finding a “negotiation voice” that is aligned with their values and personal style

  • deciding when and how to self-advocate

 

My negotiation coaching and consulting gets results. My clients have:

  • landed multimillion dollar resource packages

  • obtained promotions, both internal and external, that match their accomplishments

  • received significant increases in their compensation packages, including base and bonus pay

 

I have also negotiated on my own behalf, within my institution and at nearly a dozen other universities, and have navigated two mid-career job transitions. I have also been on the hiring end of faculty recruitment and have a deep understanding of how to frame negotiation as a win-win proposition.

The core of this service is confidential, one-on-one guidance. I will help you identify your short and long-term career goals and walk hand-in-hand with you as you negotiate for the resources you deserve. I will coach you to understand and talk about your value confidently, and negotiate for salary, institutional funds, partner hires, space, and much more. For some, one session will be enough. Others will choose to continue to engage with me throughout the negotiation process.
